Some older Dart 18s may still have the earlier thin version of this reinforced plate. The thinner bridle plates tend to develop cracks over time due to metal fatigue, usually near one of the screw holes. Avoid the risk of losing your mast overboard and replace these bridle plates in a timely manner.
Note: The screws are fastened on the inside with nuts embedded in laminate. The laminate may be somewhat dried out; loosening the screws should be done carefully to prevent the nuts from coming loose and falling down.
The bridle plates are supplied straight; after installation, you bend them to the correct angle with a strong pair of pliers. Price per piece.
